episode 74 – a healthcare bill deferred

Joe Popp | American Healthcare | Ohio Business Podcast
Joe Popp joins Dave Cain on this episode of unsuitable on Rea Radio to discuss the possible future of healthcare in America and what business owners can do to protect themselves from uncertainty.

On this episode of unsuitable on Rea Radio, we’re checking in on healthcare changes with returning guest Joe Popp, JD, LLM, a senior manager and Rea’s resident ACA expert.

The House was supposed to vote on the proposed healthcare legislation Friday, March 24 (after this podcast recorded). Instead, the bill was pulled from the floor and the House went into recess.

After the bill was pulled, House Speaker Paul Ryan said, “I don’t know what else to say other than Obamacare’s the law of the land … we’re gonna be living with Obamacare for the foreseeable future.”

Even though the Affordable Care Act lives to fight another day, Joe has a few thoughts for politicians and business owners to consider in the months and years ahead. The “ninja tax warrior” offers listeners some great insight into the legislative process while touching on tactics that will make sense for everybody going forward. On this episode, you’ll learn:

  • What Joe believes to be the best time to make decisions with regard to your existing health care structure.
  • What options are now provided to business owners per the health reimbursement arrangement that was passed in September of last year.
  • Why it still may make sense to sign up for insurance sooner rather than later from a personal perspective (especially if you have any pre-existing conditions).
  • And so much more …
