Tax Disputes Got You Down? These Stress-Free Tips Will Help You Breathe Easier

Tax season can be tough for business owners. But receiving a notice from the IRS after tax season can be just as stressful. That’s why we’ve put together an easy-to follow slideshow that features tips and insight from Clay Rose, CPA, an executive principal here at Rea & Associates.

Need To Resolve A Tax Dispute?

  1. Follow Instructions
The easiest way to resolve the issue is to follow the instructions. If the IRS sends you a notice, look for the section that explains what to do if you disagree with their decision and follow the directions.
  2. Make The Call
Follow up with a phone call if your initial challenge is rejected. Be sure to ask for the supervisor and be clear in your explanation to address all your concerns with the original rejection letter.
  3. Appeal To A Higher Office
If your requests are continually denied, go to the Office of Appeals.
  4. See It Through
If the first three steps don’t resolve the issue, your final option is to take the case to the U.S. Tax Court. It’s always in your best interest to see it through to the end and get the dispute resolved.
