Scott Moyer Leaves Public Accounting For Private Sector

Rea principal, Scott Moyer, is leaving his career in public accounting.

Rea & Associates, a regional accounting and business consulting firm, announces that Scott Moyer, CPA, is leaving his career in public accounting, effective Oct. 31, 2021, to accept the position of controller with a longtime Rea & Associates client. Moyer has been a member of the Rea team since 2011, where he served as a principal and director of Rea’s oil & gas practice.

“Scott has been a tremendous asset to the firm and the Zanesville community,” said Chad Bice, CPA, regional president of Rea’s Southeast Ohio region. “He helped build the Zanesville office from the ground-up and truly made our firm, and our team, stronger. Sure, it can be disappointing when someone leaves the firm, but when they leave to work for a client we actually take it as a compliment because it lets us know that our clients really enjoy working with our people. So, while we are sad to see Scott leave, we look forward to working with him again in this new capacity. He’ll remain a close personal friend of mine and of many others in the firm.”

“While it is difficult to say goodbye to so many close colleagues and clients, I am greatly appreciative of Rea for supporting me in this new adventure,” said Moyer. “I will always look back on my time with Rea fondly. Rea helped develop me as a professional, and my hope is that my departure will open up opportunities for other staff members in Zanesville and across the firm to advance their own careers. I look forward to my continued relationship with Rea, now as a client.”

Moyer climbed the ranks quickly at Rea, becoming one of the firm’s youngest shareholders in history in 2019. Also in 2019, Moyer was tapped to lead the firm’s oil & gas practice. Moyer and his family live in Zanesville.
