Marcia L. Stutzman Scholarship Awarded to Rebecca Vales

Annual Scholarship Helps Keep Legacy Alive

Millersburg, Ohio – The employees of Rea & Associates, Inc., in connection with The Rea Foundation continue to honor the life and memory of Marcia L. Stutzman, CPA, through a memorial scholarship directed and managed by the Holmes County Education Foundation. This year, Rebecca Vales, a senior at West Holmes High School, was the recipient of the award.

Marcia Stutzman, a 23-year employee and principal with Rea & Associates, passed away in January of 2013 at the age of 43 from Leiomyosarcoma. In her honor, the firm established the Marcia L. Stutzman Memorial Scholarship, which is designed to assist West Holmes graduating seniors pursuing majors in accounting, finance or business.

“Marcia was perceptive to the feelings and needs of those around her. This allowed her to provide great client service. She made people feel important and well cared for,” said Chris Roush, CPA. “She left a legacy that closely reflects the Rea Way for all of us to remember and follow.”

Vales, a resident of Lakeville, will pursue a degree in accounting and finance at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. Over the course of her high school career she has been active in athletics, leadership programs, community service groups, and the National Honors Society. Recently, Vales received top honors at the World Dairy Expo.

Community members are welcome to make contributions to this scholarship fund.

The Homes County Education Foundation has administered endowed scholarship funds since 1989. Currently, the organization manages nearly 50 named funds.
