OSCPA Presents Senator Larry Obhof With Outstanding Legislator Award
February 5, 2016 | Medina, Ohio – Rea & Associates, a regional accounting and business consulting firm, hosted Sen. Larry Obhof, R-Medina, at its Medina office for a brief award presentation. Sen. Obhof was recognized by the Ohio Society of CPAs on Jan. 25, for his efforts to improve Ohio’s business climate. He was presented with the OSCPA’s Outstanding Legislator Award.
Scott D. Wiley, CAE, president and CEO of OSCPA credited Sen. Obhof with “significant tax reform at the state and municipal levels” and praised his efforts to support business in Ohio.
“We were honored to have to opportunity to host this ceremony and to celebrate the contributions Sen. Obhof has made to Ohio’s business community,” said Dave McCarthy, CPA, CSEP, retired principal.
OSCPA’s Director of Tax Policy Greg Saul presented Sen. Obhof with his award. Bethany Dentler, CEcD, Executive Director of the Medina County Economic Development Corporation and Mayor Dennis Hanwell were also in attendance.
Sen. Obhof works diligently to encourage efficiencies in Ohio’s governmental entities as the Majority Whip and a member of the Senate Ways & Means Committee. Notably, the senator sponsored Senate Bill 26 (131stGA), a bill that championed a 20 percent reduction of the filing fees required to be paid by new businesses in Ohio. He also sponsored Senate Bill 28 (130thGA), which enabled Ohio taxpayers to make adjustments to returns to decrease tax liabilities and compliance costs.
