Rea & Associates Employees Honored During 2020 Spotlight Awards

Employees Recognized For Commitment To Community, Client Service, Firm Values, Innovation and the Accounting Profession During Rea Spotlight Awards

January 11, 2021 | New Philadelphia, OH – Each year, Rea & Associates, a regional accounting and business consulting firm, honors employees for their contributions to the community, client service, the public accounting profession, and to the firm as a whole. The 2020 Spotlight Award winners were announced at the firm’s annual virtual retreat in October.

“After a tumultuous year for everyone, it was so special to reflect back on all of the good that came from 2020. This year’s firm Spotlight Awards was a wonderful opportunity to highlight several remarkable individuals and their contributions to the firm and to their communities,” said Rea’s CEO Don McIntosh, CPA.


Marcia Stutzman Award For Community Service

For her longtime commitment to the Cambridge community, Maribeth Wright, CPA, a principal in the firm’s Cambridge office, was nominated by her peers and selected by the Spotlight Award Committee to receive the firm’s 8th annual Marcia Stutzman Award for Community Service.


Richard Rea Award For Client Service

For his longtime dedication to client service, the late Mark Fearon was nominated and selected by the Spotlight Award Committee as one of the recipients of the firm’s 8th annual Richard Rea Award for Client Service. He went above and beyond for his clients and was known by his clients for his dependable, personal service and business expertise at all times. Fearon, a team member in Rea’s New Philadelphia office and resident of Sugarcreek, Ohio, passed away in August 2020 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

The other recipients of this year’s Richard Rea Award for Client Service are principals Matt Long, CPA, (Wooster office), Paul McEwan, CPA, AIFA,(New Philadelphia office) and Doug Houser, CPA, CEPA, (Dublin office). This trio was nominated for their tireless work educating employees and clients about the ever-changing details of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, as well as Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). They brought clarity and expert advice to very complex business implications related to the CARES Act and the PPP.


The Rea Way Award

The Spotlight Award Committee presented the 6th annual The Rea Way Award, to Susan Amoroso, office administrator for the firm’s Northeast Ohio region. Amoroso’s selfless and admirable dedication to her coworkers, the firm’s clients and her community, were all cited as reasons for her nomination.


Tim McDaniel Award For Innovation

The firm’s leadership team revealed a new award to honor Tim McDaniel, an innovator in the firm who passed away in January 2020 from a courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The Tim McDaniel Award for Innovation was presented to Renee West, SHRM-SCP, PHR (New Philadelphia office), for their work building, planning and producing the new and well-received COVID-19 Webinar Series For Employers.
