When you employ men and women who are nearing the end of their careers, just entering the workforce, and all the ages in between, challenges are expected… but that doesn’t mean a multigenerational workforce can’t be productive.

Pat Porter, vice president of Human Resources at AAA Auto Club, joins us for part two of our HR miniseries, which is designed to help employers recruit and retain top employees. We go toe-to-toe with one of the biggest concerns business owners are facing today – how to manage a multigenerational workforce.

There is No “One-Size-Fits-All” Management Style

Today’s economic demands require a more flexible workforce from businesses, and forces individuals to stay in the workforce longer. As a result, this is the first time that five generations of the U.S. population are in the workforce simultaneously. There is no one-size-fits-all approach for managing everyone – each generation has unique attributes, desires, and motivations that must be addressed individually.

If you want to get the most out of your workers, this episode will teach you:

  • How to address (and leverage) each generation’s unique attributes, motivations, and desires.
  • How to communicate with each generation based on their preference.
  • Why increasing awareness of the employee mixture will improve interactions and maximize your workflow.

If you haven’t already, go back and listen to unsuitable episode 93 with Desiree Lyons, which is part one of our HR mini-series. We offer tools and insight to strengthen your existing recruitment and retention strategy.
