  • A high net worth client unhappy with current CPA
    • Reviewed the 2014, 2015 and 2016 returns and related notices
    • Found opportunities for amending and obtaining refunds for all years
  • Current high net worth client with multiple closely-held entities was weighing benefits of like-kind exchange for the sale of commercial real estate
    • Presented scenarios on tax savings using 1031 fully and partially
    • Client wanted the cash to pay down debt so the team did not do 1031 and reviewed the unrealized losses in his portfolio to offset gain and also suggested setting up a donor advised fund using low basis stock to take advantage of a charitable contribution (he has a heavy concentration in a publicly traded stock)
