Millersburg, Ohio - Students at East Holmes and West Holmes Elementaries are being introduced to finance, accounting and economics by CPAs and other accounting professionals with Rea & Associates on Nov. 9-18 as part of Accounting for Kids® Day.
"This is a timely lesson, especially given the recent economic events in our country," said Chris Roush, CPA, shareholder and manager of Rea's Millersburg office. "Children can feel the financial stress that many of their parents are facing."
Marcia Calhoun, Mindi Campbell, Dianna Friedrich, Becky Guthrie, Dustin Hostetler, Tom Jeffries, Brian Kempf, Kristina Miller, Tina Miller, Chris Roush, Tyler Shoemaker, Shane Snyder, Diana Straits, Marcia Stutzman, Mandy Troyer, Becky Weiss and Joel Yoder, volunteers from Rea & Associates, will lead the students in an interactive game about the stock market and the risks and rewards of real-life investing. The game shows how market fluctuations can affect overall investment and supplements classroom curriculum. Children will learn how to make smart financial decisions and become savvy consumers and future business leaders.
"By participating in Accounting for Kids Day, we're helping kids understand early in life why it's important to save for the future," said Roush. "It is rewarding for us to help children, in a fun way, grow into financially responsible adults who know how to manage their own money."
Accounting for Kids® Day, presented each November by members of The Ohio Society of CPAs, teaches 10,000 Ohio elementary students how investing over the long-term can pay big dividends. For more information, visit the newsroom at www.ohioscpa.com.
