Lee joined the Rea team in 1992 with the merger of the Columbus, Ohio, practice he founded with Clay Rose. A native of Columbus, he resides in an 1825 historic home in Granville, Ohio, with his wife Maija, a native of Finland. They each have two children who reside in New York City; Washington DC; Portland, Oregon; and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Before Rea

Lee earned his master's of management at Northwestern University and his bachelor's degree in accounting from Ohio University.

His experience includes more than 35 years at national, local, and now a top regional firm.

In fact, Lee and Clay modeled much of their original Columbus practice based on principals taught by Rea's founder, Richard Rea.

At Rea

Lee is CEO of Rea & Associates. His practice specialties include not-for-profit associations, medical practices, closely-held businesses and individual tax and planning.

Lee is a team member at the Columbus, Ohio office.

Besides Rea

Lee is active in the profession. His involvement includes:

  • The Ohio Society of CPAs (Government Affairs Advisory Council, an Ohio Legislative Key Person, the Political Endorsement Committee and the Foundation Development Committee)
  • The Moore Stephens North America network of CPA firms (Rea voting representative)
  • The Ohio University School of Accountancy Advisory Board (founding member)
  • The American Institute of CPA's (past member of the AICPA Council)

Lee is recognized as a leader in the profession, winning the 2011 Gold Medal for Meritorious Service from the Ohio Society of CPAs.

He is also very active in his community. His involvement includes:

  • Rotary International (founding member of the Dublin AM Club and Paul Harris Fellow)

Inside the Mind Of...

Who is/was the most influential person in your life/career?
My grandfather and my father. They spent character-building time with me.

How do you define success?
Making a positive contribution to your client.

What do your clients get when they work with you that they may not get from other consultants?
My clients get my full dedication to their financial well-being. My job is to be their advocate whether it be their bank, the IRS, their investment advisor or our firm.

Describe yourself in one word.
Involved.

What is the best book you've ever read?
Centennial, by James Michner. That book prompted me to go to Centennial, Wyoming for the Bicentennial on July 4, 1976.

What was your favorite class in college?
Government and economics.

Describe the best vacation you've ever taken?
Alaska with my daughters.

What TV show can you not miss?
Project Runway, Millionaire Matchmaker and Classic Auto Auctions

If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
My dad.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
The seventh game of the Indians winning a World Series in Cleveland.
