Two professionals have combined 70 years of experience
Two Rea team members, John Vogelpohl and Jan Barton, retire from the firm effective April 30.
Vogelpohl, who led Rea's construction practice team while working in the Dublin office, said proudly that he is "retiring NOT to retire." After 40 years working in local and regional CPA firms and 15 years with Rea, Vogelpohl plans to attend the certified mediator program at Capital University's law school and will also work as a part-time chief financial officer for a friend's redevelopment project.
He also plans to spend more time with his family, including his mother and sister as well as his daughter, Nancy, and wife, Donna. Travel will also be a big part of the family's plans, with trips already scheduled next summer to Machu Picchu and the Galapogos Islands. In addition, he plans to set aside time for "walks in the woods and cigars on the porch."
A long-time volunteer with ArtSafe, Vogelpohl plans to help the nonprofit with its grant bookkeeping. He will also continue to teach third grade Sunday school at his church and plans to revive a barbershop quartet there.
A Millersburg native, Vogelpohl and his wife reside in Galloway.
Barton retires from the position of office administrator in Rea's Wooster office after nearly 30 years in the accounting industry. For 20 years, she worked as the office manager at Croskey, Hostetler & Mapes. She joined Rea in 2001 when the firm merged with Rea. She also spent two years with another area CPA firm and 10 years as a teleptype operator and part-time secretary for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
Her immediate plans include welcoming her tenth grandchild into the world in South Carolina. She also plans to travel around the country with her husband, Ross, who is also retiring April 30. The couple, who recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary, also enjoys photography, reading and gardening.
A native of Green, Ohio, Barton and her husband live in Wooster. They have three adult children.
