Why do you do what you do? I like the variety of work in public accounting, and I enjoy working with our clients.

Who is/was the most influential person in your life/career? My father’s former CPA was the most influential person in my career. After high school I went to work for my dad’s business as the bookkeeper. His CPA encouraged me to go to college and pursue a degree in accounting. It took me eight long years of going to school at night while I worked full-time during the day, but I finally did it. Without his encouragement, I don’t know whether or not I would have pursued my education.

If your child wanted to own his/her own business, what you would tell him/her? I would encourage her to take some accounting courses in college. Even if a business owner is not going to be actively involved in the accounting function, it is important that she understand how to understand the data that the accounting department produces.

Describe the best vacation you've ever taken. One of our family vacations to Disney World. I think my husband and I enjoyed it just as much as our daughters.

What did you want to be when you grew up? A flight attendant.
