Rea's Axene Notes HR 4195 Harmful to Small US Exporters

3 December, 2007

Dublin, Ohio - Rea Director of Tax Services Christopher Axene has shared "serious concerns" with House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel and ranking committee member James McCrery regarding House Resolution 4195 . Axene submitted a letter to the representatives to explain the impact of the resolution on Rea clients.

In part, Axene noted: "if enacted, HR 4195 would significantly increase taxes on small and closely-held American exporters."

He continued: "While lower wage manufacturing alternatives exist outside of the United States, our clients remain firmly committed to their local economies; by providing good paying jobs that provide specialized training - and thereby increasing the skills of the local workforce - and by contributing economic resources to local economies through the  purchase of raw materials, products and services."  Passage of the resolution would "send a message to these companies that the leadership of our government is not interested in helping them remain competitive," he concluded.
